About Michael

A former in-house legal marketer, Michael offers clients 20 years of expertise in media and public relations, marketing, business development, communications and advertising. He delivers a blend of strategic and creative insight gained from serving clients in professional services and a range of other industries. His strengths lie in helping firms develop business opportunities and implement targeted communications activities.

As director of marketing and business development for Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP, Michael directed all external communications, business development, public relations, advertising and branding for 250 attorneys in multiple offices. As the firm’s first-ever communications manager, Michael worked with management and the marketing team to double the firm’s media exposure, redesign and launch two award-winning websites, and initiate the firm’s first branding campaign. He also managed the implementation of cross-practice industry teams and the implementation of a firm-wide customer relationship management (CRM) system leading to a 400-percent increase in business development activity over a span of four years.

Prior to entering the legal industry, Michael worked with the Office of Public Information of the City of Dallas as marketing manager for WRR Classical 101.1 FM, where he directed and launched nationally recognized programming. He also led the redesign and launch of the station’s website, which was recognized as one of the “World’s Best Radio Websites” by Radio Ink magazine and “Best Business Website” by the Dallas chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC).

Michael formerly owned his own advertising agency and is a frequent speaker on various communications and business development topics. He has also written articles on crisis communications and business development strategies and regularly presents to professional organizations. Michael has been recognized by numerous organizations for his work in advertising and public relations, including the American Advertising Federation, IABC, Legal Marketing Association, New York Festivals, Reputation Management Magazine, Texas Public Relations Association and the Web Marketing Association.

A naturalized Texan, Michael studied advertising at the University of Texas and earned his bachelor’s degree in communications from Texas A&M University Corpus Christi.
